Hereford United Supporters’ Trust are seeking to appoint a HUST member to the Board of Hereford FC to fulfil the role of a HUST Nominated Director (HND) for the next three years. The successful candidate will join two other HND’s already on the Club Board to become a full and active Director of the Football Club.
HUST notes and welcomes the appointment of Rob Crawford to the HFC Board and looks forward to building and developing a good working relationship with both him and the entirety of The Board of HFC. Robs CV speaks for itself and we are sure that he will prove to be a great asset.
The Board of HUST took the decision NOT to rush into a Nominated Director appointment after the resignation of Mick Merrick and would wait until we could ascertain the required skill sets. Now that this is resolved, HUST is pleased to be able to report that the process of selecting a Nominated Director, to fill the remaining vacancy on the HFC Board, is starting this weekend. The process is due for completion by Mid-February.

Joanie says “It’s a privilege to be able to contribute to the Trust and Club during the next transitional phase. I thank my fellow board members for expressing their confidence. We are delighted to have strengthened the HUST Board and can now move forward with some key projects. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Richard Tomkins, retiring Chair, for his tireless work in steering HUST since taking over from Chris Williams in 2016. HUST Annual General Meeting – New Trust Board Takes Shape
The room was packed for our AGM. Elections took place for the Trust Board 2019/20 and resolutions were considered. The following members will join Richard Tomkins, Joanie Roberts and Tony Taylor on the Trust board.
Peter is a season ticket holder and lifelong supporter of football at Edgar Street. He is a retired Bank Manager and subsequently a Company Director, with extensive experience of recruitment and staff management together with investigations in the financial sector. While having every faith in the club’s board, he strongly believes that our fans are the heart of the club and that they should have a clear and strong voice in the way the club is run.
Michael is a retired headteacher from Ledbury. He grew up in Hereford and has been a life-long supporter of the club. One of Michael’s aims for HUST is to promote the Trust and the Club in the town of Ledbury and the surrounding area.
Nigel is a retired director and owner/part owner in several businesses. He has expertise in sales, marketing and finance. A supporter since the 1990s, Nigel invested in the phoenix Hereford FC. His aims are to increase HUST membership, introduce HUST and HFC supporter forums to provide updates on current position and future needs, and to develop a 5-year plan towards Football League status whilst maintaining a sustainable club.
A supporter since 1990, Jamie served 22 years in the Army. He is a keen volunteer at the club in the role of First Aider. Jamie sees the club as part of our whole community and its triumphs and defeats affect us all. “We need to have a strong and sustainable club so that past events do not repeat themselves.”
Richard’s first match was in 1975 and he’s lived and worked in Herefordshire all his life. He’s held volunteer positions at both HUFC and HFC, including chair and vice chair of the Vice Presidents Club, host of the Executive club, secretary at HFC board meetings and Parent Liaison Officer at the HFC Academy. Richard is aiming to improve cohesion between the Club and the Trust.

HEREFORD UNITED SUPPORTERS’ TRUST – SOCIETY BOARD ELECTION SEP 2019
INDEPENDENT CHAIR’S REPORT AND ELECTION RESULTS
12th September 2019
It was an honour to be asked to be the Chair of the Election Management Group and the Independent Scrutineer for the Hereford Supporters’ Trust Board Elections 2019 and it has again been an interesting experience.
Six vacancies were declared but only five nominations were received.
All the nominations were validated and therefore, as the Independent Scrutiniser, and in line with rule 8.3. of the Election Rules, I declare the following five nominees appointed subject to an affirmative vote at the HUST AGM:
As part of my role I am required to report whether the current Society Election Rules Regulations and Procedures and the Society Constitution were adhered to. I am satisfied they were though two situations encountered have prompted the EMG to recommend small changes to the Election Policy which we will pass to the Trust Board for consideration.
Best wishes, Neil Le Milliere
Independent Chair 2019
Reading Football Club and Supporters Trust At Reading (STAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding
Reading Football Club and Supporters Trust At Reading (STAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) document which enters the club and its supporters’ trust into a new ‘structured dialogue’ relationship.
The Government’s Expert Working Group on football governance recommended that “there should be a high level meeting on strategic matters twice a year between club senior management/owners and the official representatives of supporters.” With the signing of this MOU, we are now embracing that recommendation and will consult with STAR and representatives of our supporter groups on strategic matters and long-term projects at the club.
Reading Football Club have long included its supporters in issues at all levels of club operations, consulting fans, listening and learning from supporter feedback to improve the matchday experience and grow a strong affinity between club and fanbase.
Richard Tomkins, Chairman of HUST and committee member on the Football Supporters Association said “Structured dialogue has been championed by the FSA. This is a good example of its implementation at Football League level. There are proposals to develop it into other leagues which I’m sure supporters of those clubs would see as a step forward in the modern game.”
